Short description
The aim is to make visible the threats to freedom posed by these control tools in the Brussels region, by centralizing information about them on a single platform accessible to all.

Detailled description

"Behind the technophile rhetoric highlighting the benefits of these technologies, which should generally improve the quality of life of individuals, whether in terms of health, security, mobility, etc., lie in reality colossal economic interests and an ever-increasing desire for social control.
The deployment of these security tools, designed to control, monitor, classify and punish behavior, is often carried out with total indifference, thanks to the complicity of industry and political decision-makers; The latter are at best guilty through negligence or naivety, when they are not themselves behind the adoption of these freedom-destroying gadgets (ANPR cameras recognizing license plates, facial recognition, drones flying over public spaces, especially demonstrations, smart energy meters, etc.). ).

Faced with this situation, many of us deplore the lack of information and debate on the security implications of adopting these technological tools. We deplore the absence of any real critique of this increasingly massive urban surveillance. That's why we've decided to respond to the “Technopolice” project initiated in France by La Quadrature du Net, and to extend it to Brussels and even Belgium.

Our aim is to make visible the threats to freedom posed by these control tools in the Brussels region, by centralizing information about them on a single platform accessible to all. Through this informative work, we hope to give everyone the opportunity to understand what's at stake, and to build tools and strategies of resistance against surveillance, so that the deployment of these police tools can be halted, the militarization of public space defeated, and technopoliticsfinally brought to an end!"
