Animation - "UPLOAD YOUR DATA ON SNAPCHAT"

ObjectiveUnderstand how the collection of personal data (conversations, photos, vocals, etc...) works on a Snapchat-style social network 

Complexity level 

(in terms of material, time and skill level)

  • Equipment : smartphone with Snapchat app
  • Time : 15 minutes to manipulate the app on smartphone + receiving an email from the app
  • No specific skills needed
  • Profile of participants : people that can have acess to Snapchat on their smartphone
Description of the animation approach 
  1. Go on Snapchat app
  2. Go on "Parameters" and select "My Data"
  3. Click on "My data"
  4. To log in with your Snapchat email adress or phone number
  5. Select the data you wish to include in your download data 
  6. Select the date range of the datayou wish to receive or deactivate this option if you wish to receive all data 
  7. Confirm the email adress to which you wish to receive your data 
  8. Click on "Send" at the bottom of the page
  9. Snapchat will send you an e-mail with a link once your data is ready to be downloaded or your recent exports
  10. Reconnect to your account 
  11. Select "View Exports", then "Download" to export your data 
  12. The data will be put into a Zip Format file, so you will have to do click to retrieve all photos, conversatons that Snapchat keeps of you.
